Romeo and Juliet

On Friday 23rd October, the students of Nyagatare Secondary School performed William Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' in Kigali, kindly hosted by the British Embassy in Rwanda.

A cast twenty-five Senior One and Senior Two students performed as part of Shakespeare International Day 2009, the largest International Youth Shakespeare festival to span across hemispheres. Shakespeare International Day is a globe-trotting extravaganza with schools from over 50 countries staging abridged Shakespeare plays throughout the world, whereby a 24 hour consecutive cultural baton is passed across nations. Shakespeare International Day 2009 was a unique experience for the school, enabling a global celebration of youth, culture, creativity, and Shakespeare.

Nyagatare Secondary School students represented Rwanda, and were the only school in East Africa taking part in the festival!
