Welcome to our school 

Nyagatare Secondary School is a government school, located in Nyagatare District, in the Eastern Province of Rwanda, 4km from the local town.

The school was established in 2000, with donations from the Japanese Government and UNHCR. The school is recognised as one of thirty 'centres of excellence' in Rwanda, specialising in the teaching of sciences, modelling good practice in teaching and learning in Nyagatare District, as well as being a GIS (Geographical Information Systems) pilot school. Nyagatare Secondary School is also a training centre for local science teachers, who attend seminars and use the school's facilities over the course of the year.

The school has 24 classrooms, a large multi-purpose hall, four laboratories for the teaching of physics, chemistry, biology and computers, a large library and dormitories to accommodate 800 students. Experienced and qualified teachers are recruited locally in Rwanda, as well as from within the East African Community.
